Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. ORIENTAL CERAMICS TWO THOUSAND YEARS BY KOYAMA & FIGGESS 1960 HUGE TIPPED-IN COLOR PLATES. As I sit down to prepare this listing, I am already frustrated; it will be impossible to do justice to the scope and beauty of the color plates (and there are also plates in b&w) with an eBay listing. I am very pleased to be able to offer a huge hard cover book (10 ĵ x 13 ½ x 2 ĵ inches, 379 pages) titled: Two Thousand Years of Oriental Ceramics, by Fujio Koyama and John Figgess. This book is bound in a heavy, almost canvas but softer, golden colored woven cloth, with gilt titles on the spine. The book was published by Harry N. Abrams of New York and is dated 1960; there is no mention of Edition although research suggests that it is indeed a First. I can tell you that there are 160 plates, 54 of them in full color, and these are all tipped-in. This book weighs in at almost 8 pounds without packaging. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are a bit dust-dulled and there are one or two pulls to the fabric of the woven cloth covers. The gilt titles on the spine are a bit worn but still legible. Inside, the book is unmarked and the pages and plates are clean and bright, from cover to cover. Both hinges are fully intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.

Original brochure. Condition: Sehr gut. Unpaginated (32 p.), illustrated throughout. A good and very clean copy. - THE KOHUKU-JI. (The headquarters of the Hosso Sect. Located at Noborioji, Nara City). No sightseeing visit to Nara would be completed without some time spent in the precincts of the Kohuku-ji, one of the most ancient Buddhist temples in Japan with its beautiful five-storied pagoda casting its reflection in the Sarusawa pond. HISTORY: The Kohuku-ji, located at the entrance to Nara Park and almost within a stones throw of the Nara Hotel has a history of nearly thirteen hundred years. The temple was founded in 669 A. D. by the wife of Hujiwara Kamatari, one of the founders of the great family of Hujiwara which was destined to play such an important role in the history of Japan from the eighth to the twelfth century. The original temple was established in Yamashina Suehara (now Kioto), as the private place of worship of Hujiwara Kamatari but a few years later was moved to a place named Umayasaka in Nara prefecture and when the Imperial Court was transferred to Heijokyo in the year 710, the Umayasaka temple was moved again to its present site in Nara and re-named Kohuku-ji (although it was sometimes referred to as Kasuga-ji).
