8vo: 2 pp. 32 lines of text. Good, on lightly-aged paper. He is willing to help Tomkinson with his book 'Modern Presses', but would not 'have time to be responsible for the writing of any chapters'. Offers to answer 'a questionnaire' regarding 'Flying Fame', and directs Jackson to his 'articles on the work of Lovat Fraser in the… "Bookman", the "Fleuron", and "To-day".' Paragraph discusses the 'New Age Press', which 'was not a Press at all, but a publishing business'. In the last paragraph changes his mind, and offers to write a brief chapter. 'I would undertake the job, but I shall wait until you carry out your threat of sending me one or two specimens of the sort of chapters you are including.' The projected work discussed in the letter is unclear, but Tomkinson himself published 'A select bibliography of the principal modern presses, public and private, in Great Britain and Ireland' in 1928.

Contact seller5-star sellerTwo privately printed items from the Texas fine printer, W. Thomas Taylor, issued for friends and family. Both are designed by Taylor and bound at the Cloverleaf Studio in Austin. These little booklets contain various short essays and musings by Taylor, often on books and printing, but also about travel, birding, history, life,…etc. Taylor notes in his introductory letter: "Why not, in a sense, 'acquire' anew the books I already have by reading them, studying them, and producing personal essays concerning various topics that can be illumined by the material within them. This, then, is the first of what I hope will be a series of such casual essays, collectively titled Alibi." OCLC cites 2 and 3 holdings respectively for these publications and notes Taylor has published 5 from this series through 2024, all being naturally scarce. 2 vols, 28x20cm, 46pp, bound in green paper wraps with printed spine label, green and gilt patterned endpapers, photos, illustrations, some in color.
