Percorre la storia delle aspirazioni di grandi scrittori a una lingua ausiliaria internazionale, cita il VOLAPÜK di Schleyer (1885), l'ESPERANTO di Zamenhof (1887), di cui spiega ampiamente caratteristiche e successi (tra cui l'apprezzamento di Giuseppe PEANO (il quale non aveva ancora lanciato l'Interlingua!), ma conclude definendoli tentativi lodevoli ma "manifatturati" ed optando invece per una delle lingue viventi, che si affermi come fu per il toscano in Italia "per la sua stessa forza d'espansione", citando il francese e l'inglese. FLECHIA, nipote del grande glottologo canavesano di Piverone Giovanni Flechia, fu Membro-Fondatore della "Société Internationale de Dialectologie Romane" di Bruxelles; si occupò della pubblicazione delle opere dell'avo e fu a sua volta studioso di toponomastica ed etimologia a Pistoia, a Vicenza ecc.; un fondo dei due linguisti si trova presso l'Accademia delle Scienze di Torino.
