Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 2nd Edition. 96pp. within illustrated yellow boards with title to upper cover .backed by a blue cloth spine.Foxed end-papers with a prize label to the front paste-down and a former owner's name to the front free end-paper otherwise clean and unmarked internally. The author a Missionary… in China wrote this book for English children to describe the life of the "yellow children" to Edwardian England. She describes "dirty narrow streets, and houses with queer roofs" etc. It's certainly not politically correct but an interesting insight into the China of old. The book has been "used" but remains in good order though the boards are chipped to the edges with corners knocked, but otherwise complete and very good for its age. Nancy Ruxton (illustrator).
