    Oblong 8vo. 7 x 4.75 inches. Vignette view book containing 30 steel engravings of Sandgate, Folkestone, Hythe, Dover and neighbourhood without text as issued. All published by J. S. and Co. except Dover from the Sea, Dover Castle and Launching a Deal Boat which are by Kershaw. Bound in original blind stamped and gilt cloth. Extremities a little worn and some foxing, largely confined to plate edges. These view books were published by London firms like Newman, J.S. and Co. and Kershaw and the prints could be purchased by local booksellers like Wilson of Sandgate, who issued a customised selection under their own imprints. A good selection of views depicting Sandgate, Sandgate from Shorncliffe, Sandgate looking West, Sandgate from the Hythe Road, New Schools, Saltwood Castle, Folkestone from the Sea, Folkestone from the Dover Road, Folkestone Church, Pavilion Hotel, Bouverie Square, Longford Terrace, Albion Villas, West Cliff Hotel and Christ's Church, Congregational Church and Viaduct, The Lees, Lower Sandgate Road, East Wear Bay, Rifle Practice Ground of the School of Musketry, Hythe, Lympne Castle and Church, St Leonards Church, The Crypt, Dover from the Sea, Admiralty Pier, The Barracks, Shakespeare's Cliff, Dover Castle from Castle Street, Waterloo Crescent, Launching a Deal Boat and Hop Picking.
