Since 2006 Young-Jae Lee (b. 1951), the head of the ceramic workshop Margaretenhöhe Essen, has been creating her Spinatschalen (Spinach Bowls) - round-bodied vessels on simple standing rings, whose diverse glazes bring out the aesthetic appeal of these impressive dishes. Behind the purist form of Lee's bowls lies a long history stretching back to Korean vessels of the Goryeo dynasty (918-1392) by way of Japanese tea bowls. This publication reveals much more than just the genesis of the Spinatschalen; it unlocks a piece of ceramic history. Es war nichts weniger als eine mediale Revolution, die sich in der Druckgrafik der 1960er Jahre ereignete: Erstmals entstanden in großem Stil druckgrafische Werke, die auf fotografischen Vorlagen beruhten. In der Regel waren es keine eigenen Aufnahmen, sondern Bilder aus Zeitungen und Zeitschriften oder Szenen aus dem Fernsehen, die verwendet wurden. Auf diese Weise fand die Realität des Wirtschaftswachstums der Nachkriegsjahrzehnte ebenso ihren Weg in die Kunst wie die damaligen politischen und gesellschaftlichen Verwerfungen. Robert Rauschenberg, Roy Lichtenstein und Andy Warhol stehen am Anfang dieser künstlerischen Entwicklung. In Europa gehören Richard Hamilton, Klaus Staeck und vor allem Gerhard Richter zu ihren wichtigsten Vertretern. Im Unterschied zum halb ironischen, halb affirmativen Ansatz vieler amerikanischer Künstler kommt in der zeitgleichen europäischen Druckgrafik jedoch eine deutlichere Kritik an gesellschaftlichen Zuständen zum Ausdruck. Erstmals präsentiert eine Ausstellung mit rund 90 Exponaten umfassend den Bestand an fotobasierter Druckgrafik der 1960er und 1970er Jahre aus der Grafischen Sammlung des Museum Folkwang.
