In den 1850er und 1860er Jahren reiste er in die Schweiz, nach Österreich, Oberbayern und in die Haute-Savoie, wo er bevorzugt alpine Landschaften malte. - Die Leinwand an den Kanten etwas angerissen.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. A WONDERFUL COPY: 7 separate titles bound into 1 book. The 1881 1st edition of the Jules Colbeau biography ("Notice Biographique."), SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR FRANCOIS ROFFIAEN on the title page. Plus the 1865 "Excursions et Decouvertes Malacologiques Faites en Quelques Localites de la Belgique" by Jules Colbeau, SIGNED BY JULES COLBEAU in a pasted-on signature on the title page. And finally, 5 other Jules Colbeau titles bound-in at rear. Together, all 7 volumes are bound in a contemporary-to-the-period 1/4 leather over marbled boards, with bright gilt-lettering along the spine. A bit of foxing at the fore-edge, tiny, unobtrusive former owner labels on the front pastedown, the spine and the front panel. A very presentable copy, including several plates (one in color) and a beautiful engraving of Colbeau serving as the frontispiece. Signed.
