Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. This 'Near Fine' classic hardback was published jointly by The British Library and the US Oak Knoll Press in 1998. The ABE Stock Image photograph is accurate for this copy. The book has no defects to disclose, while the 'Very Good' dust-jacket has minor wear on the top edge. The book is bound with black binding paper on stiff boards. The spine titles are in gilt. The book has 277 numbered pages. The book has many illustrations, showing the range of varied printing types over the centuries. The size of the book in inches is 10.1 x 6.3 and it weighs 0.84 kg. As with all our sales of books within the UK, we only ever charge a flat standard delivery cost of £3.35.

Book
Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. Landscape sm. folio, 37 x 24 cm. Approx. 450 cards printed one side only. Including 'Monotype' and a wide range of (mostly display) foundry types presented in complete standard founts. Sold as found as a working collection: the set of cards covering the range of available sizes of a particular design may not always be complete. Some cards a little worn. Housed in two drop-back boxes. Unpacked weight 7.4 kg. These type specimens were standard references for British typographers for a generation from about 1955. These appear to be the original design, which was updated in the late 1960s. Almost all of the classic 'Monotype' faces are here, together with a wealth of material from foundries including ATF, Amsterdam Typefounders, Bauer, Berthold, Ludwig & Mayer, Nebiolo, Stempel, Stevens, Shanks and Stephenson Blake.
