The very scarce medical journal of the Viennese *Josephinum*, a military medical school established in 1783-85, and directed by the Italian physician Johann Alexander Brambilla (Giovanni Alessandro Brambilla), chief surgeon to Emperor Joseph II, and author of the *Instrumentarium Chirurgicum Militare Austriacum* (1782), the most complete survey of medical instruments of the day. This volume features two treatises by Brambilla: "Gliedschwamme am Knie," and "von der Bleykolik."
