This volume features two treatises by Brambilla: "Gliedschwamme am Knie," and "von der Bleykolik." Also included is "Tetanus von einer Verwundung," by Joseph Plenk, the leading dermatologist of the period, and "Beobachtungen uber die Samengange ihre Klappen," by the Viennese anatomist and physiologist Georg Prochaska. Originaire de Moravie, Prochaska (1749-1820) étudia la médecine à Vienne et devint professeur d'anatomie, de physiologie et d'ophtalmologie à Prague, puis à Vienne. Ses recherches ont principalement porté sur l'anatomie, la physiologie et l'histologie du système nerveux. Il est à l'origine d'un théorie très cohérente et complète de l'action réflexe, définie au travers de l'idée d'un "sensorium commune" dans le système nerveux central.
