The American edition is apparently identical, except for DJ and title page (recto and verso), to the British. "This book stems from a Technical Meeting sponsored by the sectional committee on Productivity of Freshwater Communities (PF) of the International Biological Programme (IBP). The meeting was one of several arranged to discuss the status of knowledge about production in freshwaters and to act as a focal point for initiating an active, world-wide research effort." The meeting was held at the University, Reading, in September 1966. Nineteen of the participants additionally worked two days before the Symposium, and two days after, and produced a Handbook of Freshwater Fish Production. Species to species, productivity-wise, the fish didn't stand a chance.
