December 1792 in Resterhafe (Ostfriesland), studirte in Groningen und Berlin, wurde 1815 daselbst Doctor und darauf Arzt in Emden, erfreute sich eines ausgezeichneten, weitverbreiteten Rufes als Praktiker, schrieb eine grosse Reihe von Arbeiten, die theils einzeln, theils in medicinischen Journalen (v. SIEBOLD'S Journal 1816; HUFELAND'S Journal 1816, 18, 20, 21, 26, 27; HÄERLESS' Neue Jahrbb. 1821-23, 26 u.s.w.) erschienen, zum Theil in holländischer Sprache. Von denselben führen wir nur an: "Anleitung zur Erkenntniss des Croup u.s.w." (Emden 1819) - "Verhandeling over de gewyzigde Kinderpokken; uitgeven door de Hollandsche Maatschappy de Wetenschappen" (Harlem 1824), eine gekrönte Preisschrift; ferner die Uebersetzungen aus dem Holländischen von E. J. THOMASSEN a THUESSINK "Ueber das gelbe Fieber" (Bremen und Emden 1823) und "Beschreibung der epidemischen Krankheiten zu Groningen im Jahre 1826" (Bremen 1827). Er starb am 12. März 1831."
