There no photo credits though numerous photos can be attributed to Alexandr Rodchenko. The epilog by Alfred Kurella treats the centrally planned economy, argues for the "Five-Year-Plan" and the advancement of society as a whole, explains the financial planning and important statistics, the change form an agricultural to an industrialized country as well as the social and cultural goals of the five-year plan. Last page with Kiepenheuer titles by the authors. Text in German, captions in three languages. Dustjacket with very light wear along top and bottom edges. Very good to near fine condition.

Schon 1927 hatte Weiskopf in seinem bei Malik erschienenen Reisebericht Umsteigen ins 21. Jahrhundert den Sowjetstaat als Vorbild für die Gesellschaftsordnung der Zukunft gefeiert. Für den Bildband im Berliner Verlag Gustav Kiepenheuer wurde ein 184-seitiger, lateinisch durchnummerierter Buchblock mit 265 Abbildungen zusammengestellt, die die Herausgeber laut Impressum aus über 5.000 Bildern der russischen Agentur Ogonjok und der Berliner Unionbild aus wählten. Dieser Bildteil, im Kupfertiefdruck bei Oscar Brandstetter in Leipzig produziert, enthält die Bildunterschriften in drei Sprachen (Deutsch / Englisch / Französisch) und wurde analog für die französische und englische Ausgabe des Buches verwendet. Lediglich das römisch nummerierte Vorwort der Herausgeber und das erklärende Nachwort zum Fünfjahresplan von Alfred Kureila wurden für die jeweiligen nationalen Ausgabennoch übersetzt. Die deutsche Variante erschien zunächst ohne Angabe einer Auflagenhöhe in einer kartonierten Ausgabe mit aufgeklebtem Schutzumschlag von John Heartfield, der sich zur selben Zeit auf einer mehrmonatigen Reise in die Sowjetunion befand."
