Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. This book is covered in neat, clear, removable plastic. The dust jacket has some wear. There are some tears and holes. The hard cover has some small holes on the front cover. Otherwise it is in good condition. The binding is sound. There are no loose pages. There is a small stamp on the bottom of the front, inside cover. There is some light foxing on the page edges. While yellowed, the pages are in good condition.

Hardcover first edition of a book which was also published in paperback by Robin Hood Press in 1953 using the same cover design which has been attributed to Leonard Potts. Ex-library copy. The boards have faint tape marks to the centre at the top and bottom of the front panel which also has one tiny surface tear. One inch crease to the bottom left corner of the rear panel. Browning to the page edges. The endpapers have been reinforced at the front with tape along the hinge. There is a stamp to the front pastedown and several pen marks, some surface tearing and other marking. Tape along the hinge at the half-title page and the title page has a four inch piece torn from the right side. The text block is very slack with the hinges well exposed at page 32. Small piece of tape to the rear pastedown. The pages are browned but generally otherwise unmarked. The jacket has been cut down by a few mm at the top and bottom and has quite a bit of surface wrinkling but has nice bright colouring. Priced at 6/- on the front flap. First printing.

Mass Market Paperback. Condition: Poor. Third Edition. This is a 1952 paperback edition. Originally published by Wells Gardner in 1940. I believe there was a 1949 edition from Robin Hood Press. Extremely rare. The front cover has been removed unfortunately. The rear cover has a half inch chip out of the top left corner and a one inch closed tear to the left edge where there is some associated creasing. Browning and surface creasing to the rear cover. Small piece torn from the top right corner of the first page and the pages are browned with a little edge wear but otherwise unmarked. Postage charge will be reduced by £1.50 when the order is processed.

Mass Market Paperback. Condition: Good. Second Edition. Second edition published by Alexander Moring in the 1956. Originally published by Robin Hood Press in 1948 under the title 'Dainty was a Jane'. A previous owner has written the title in pen on the spine and they have also incorrectly written 'sequel to "Dainty was a Jane" at the left side of the front cover. Someone has also written the words 'Blonde Cute' under the title - this is quite faint. The staples are very rusty and there is brown marking at the left side of the front cover which also has two small edge tears and light surface wear. Surface creasing and discolouration to the back cover with a one inch torn patch at the centre, a small edge tear, a tiny chip to the bottom left corner and some numbers written faintly at the bottom. Tape marking along the left side of the front cover with a little chipping at the bottom. Rusty marks around the rusty staples at the front and back of the book. Light spotting to the first and last pages. The first page has something written at the top and a small tear to the bottom edge. Pages browned with a little creasing to the top corners in a few places but otherwise clean and unmarked.

Undated second edition published by Alexander Moring in the 1950s Originally published by Robin Hood Press in 1950 under the slightly different title 'She Gave Me Hell and.'. One heavy diagonal crease, some surface discolouration and two small nicks to the top edge of the front cover. Surface creasing and discolouration to the back cover. Reading creasing to the spine. Rusty marks around the rusty staples at the front and back of the book. Light spotting to the first and last pages. The first page has a small tear above the top staple and the final page has a half-inch tear to the edge. Pages browned but otherwise clean and unmarked. Overall a tight, fairly unworn and clean copy of an extremely rare book.

No publication date given but believed to be from 1948. Extremely rare particularly in this condition. The covers are crisp and largely unmarked with good colouring. There is a little light vertical creasing to the front cover. One small brown spot to the back cover and slight chipping to the top of the spine. The page edges have a little browning. Previous owner's name in pen to the top of the first page but the pages are otherwise clean and unmarked. The cover has the name 'Terry' at the bottom left corner of the illustration and the book is priced at 2/-.

Mass Market Paperback. Condition: Good. First Edition. Undated extremely rare hardcover edition. Ex-library copy. The boards have a little light surface discolouration, a dent to the rear panel near the spine and little corner rubbing. The page edges are browned and the text block is a little uneven. Library stamp to the front pastedown and lending label to the front free endpaper. Vertical tape marks to the front and rear pastedowns and front and rear free endpapers and the endpapers are browned with some spotting. There is scattered light spotting and staining to a large number of pages through the book and a small piece is torn from the edge of page 27. No jacket unfortunately. Believed to be the first printing of the hardcover edition.

Mass Market Paperback. Condition: Good. First Paperback Edition. Believed to be a revision of It's Not Easy to Die (1950), written by Stephen Frances allegedly writing as Steve Markham. This is the story of Johnny the Kid's rise in the Chicago rackets, originally driven by the need for cash to save his father's life. Quite a bit of surface rubbing to the front cover which has a small closed tear to the bottom left corner. The rear cover is missing. Quarter inch chip out of the surface of the spine which is also a little faded. Small chips to the bottom corners of the last two pages and the pages are browned but they are otherwise clean and unmarked. An extremely rare book.

Sound VG slightly used clean copy with short closed tear to side of front wraps and slight chips at front corners and lower end of spine. Text clean.

Although the original 1941 date is on the copyright page, this edition from the Robin Hood Press, London (established in 1946) is a later publication, due to rear dustjacket advertisement for a Bryn Logan western called 'The Deputy of Squaw Rock', which was published in 1949. 'No Mortgage on a Coffin' was originally published by Wells Gardner, Darton & Co, London in 1941. (37/2).

I believe this book was a paperback original with this being the first edition - dates on Robin Hood Press editions are not always reliable however. Extremely rare. The hard cover edition was published in 1953. The front cover has a one inch strip of tape along the right edge with the area covered by the tape now browned. The tape also covers about a quarte of an inch along the edge of the reverse with the discolouration over a one inch strip where the tape is attached to the front. Light chipping around the base of the spine and a tiny surface chip at the top. The rear cover is a little browned with slight chipping to the bottom left corner. Tight binding. The first page has a date in ink to the top left corner and a few brown spots to the bottom right corner. The pages are browned with a little edge wear but otherwise unmarked.

Softcover. Condition: Very good. No jacket. Reissue. Reissue. 8vo. Original printed wrappers. An erotic "rewrite" of James Hadley Chase's No Orchids for Mrs Blandish, which once again saw Kelly in trouble with the British authorities upon publication. A very good example. Book.

Hard Cover. Dust Jacket Condition: Dust Jacket. First Edition. (London: Wells, Gardner, Darton & Co., Ltd., 1941). A Softback. A very cheaply and poorly produced book. About VG (very weak front hinge) in like creased, worn and torn D/W. This is the true first edition originally published by Wells Gardner, Darton & Co. in 1941 which was voluntarily withdrawn from sale by the publishers when both they and the author pleaded guilty to obscenity charges relating to two other Glinto titles ("Lady - Don't Turn Over" and "Snow Vogue") at the Old Bailey in May 1942 resulting in a fine of £200. Rare in first edition. The first edition was originally published at 1/- net (although it was reprinted in the late 1940's at 2/- with different D/W artwork). I rate it Near Fine because I am taking the age into account. It might even be unread. The protected jacket is usually damaged or missing, and the book is rarely found without sun damage, or with turned over corners. No owner names, not ex-library. A real pulp collectable.
