Die Schule von Salamanca steht für den Ursprung des modernen Völkerrechts und eines neuen Konzepts der Völkergemeinschaft, angepasst an die Erfordernisse der beginnenden Neuzeit, der Entdeckung neuer Völker und den damit verbundenen Fragestellungen.Das vorliegende Werk beschäftigt sich mit den rechtsphilosophischen Theorien der Schule von Salamanca zur Trias Mensch - Staat - Völkergemeinschaft. Im Zentrum stehen dabei deren Überlegungen zum bonum commune und bonum totius orbis sowie zur naturgegebenen Einheit zwischen Mensch und Gemeinschaft. Gefragt wird ob, und wenn ja wie, die Leitgedanken der Schule von Salamanca zu einer den Staaten immanenten Verantwortlichkeit für das globale Gemeinwohl auf heutige Problemlagen angewandt werden können.
