Add to basketPaperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book studies the life of St. Francis of Assisi, a Catholic saint who lived in the 12th century. His father was a wealthy merchant who indulged his son, leading to a life of luxury in his youth. Yet, the author argues that even then, St. Francis had a deep-seated love for Christ's poor, which would form the basis of his mission later in life. The book discusses the historical context of the time, including the growth of the Franciscan Order and its impact on both the Catholic Church and the broader society. Furthermore, it explores the depth of St. Francis's beliefs, including his emphasis on poverty and humility, and the way in which these beliefs continue to resonate with people today.
