Il donne une description de la vie des indigènes et des établissements coloniaux en insistant sur les possibilités d'expansion pour la France. "Ce que l'auteur ne présente que comme un fragment de voyage et du séjour qu'il a fait au Sénégal et dans les contrées adjacentes, donne des notions très lumineuses sur un pays si intéressant par les productions qu'on en tire.
