Contact seller5-star sellerHardcover. Small 4to. Blue cloth with gilt lettering and decorations. xv, 366pp. Top edge gilt. Frontispiece, illustrations. Very good. Spine faintly age toned and edgeworn, remainder near fine -- tight and bright, with giltstamping fresh. A lovely first edition of this thick memoir by the famed late 19th/early 20th century acto…r and vaudevillian (1857-1919) best known for his portrayal of Fagin in a 1912 stage version of Charles Dickens' "Oliver Twist." This sharp copy bears a choice autograph addition: Neatly tipped on the blank margin beneath Goodwin's frontispiece head-and-shoulders portrait is an inscribed and signed (in bold pencil) lined 2" X 4" slip: "Yours Truly / Nat Goodwin Jr." Early example -- Goodwin later usually signed himself "Nat C. Goodwin." Interestingly, front flyleaf bears the circular blind-embossed ownership imprint of well-known television character actor Robert Casper (1924-2020). An exceptional, tight 'n' bright copy of a title often found in sad, saggy condition and with interesting added signature.
