See her entry in the Oxford DNB. Good bold signature 'Gracie Fields', underlined and rising upwards. On 11.5 x 9 cm piece of thin light-grey card. In good condition, lightly aged, but with border of discoloration created by tape, a tiny part of which has encroached on the initial 'G' of the signature.

Beloved English music hall and night club performer and singer remembered for such hits as "The Biggest Aspidistra in the World"; she was knighted for her World War Two war efforts. Large handsome signature in blue ballpoint, heavy stock 5" X 3" card, n.p., 1970 September 11. Near fine. With original envelope.

Here identified as a "Comedienne", Gracie Fields performed Harris Weston's "Our Avenue", Irving Berlin's "Because I Love You" and Rapee & Pollack's "Charmaine".Born Grace Stanfield, Dame Gracie Fields (1898-1979) was a British actress, singer, comedian and cinema and music hall star. She was one of the top 10 film stars in Britain in the 1930's and had the distinction of being the highest paid film star in the world in 1937. She was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE), an Officer of the Venerable Order of St John (OStJ) and a Dame Commander of the British Empire (DBE).
