The Jester's Reign was Grainger's second novel, her first being The Hussy. The story is a fantasy wherein a strange laughing sound is hear simultaneously around the world. The jacket's in nice condition with a little lightening to the spine and some rolling to the edges, a little bumping to the spine tips. A nice copy. [11145, Hyraxia Books].

Hardcover. 1st Edition. New York, Carrick & Evans, First edition octavo. A very good copy in badly chipped dj. Probably an early copy as she inscribed the book in Christmas 1937. Grainger was an American writer who lived in NY in the 1920s during its Bohemian heyday. Known as a poet and essayist the Powys brothers figure in many of her anecdotes. Small stain at the base of the text block. The Jester's Reign was published in the UK in 1939 by the Laidlaw Books a short-lived fantasy publisher. No copies in OCLC Signed by Author(s).
