Add to basketHardbacks in slipcase. Condition: Near fine. First Edition. 24 x 32cm. Two volumes in slipcase: 'Original Version' and its variant 'Alternative Version'. Both unpaginated, [each approx. 30pp]. Page edges rough cut. An intensely personal work by Eric Gill originally published by Robert Gibbings at the Golden Cockerel Press in 192…6 as a limited run. This lavish new edition - faithful to the original - is a similarly limited edition, is hand-numbered as No. 10 hors commerce (of 15, outside of the run of 60 copies made available for general sale). Nicolas McDowall designed this publication, typesetting and printing in Gill's Aries typeface at Catchmays Court, Llandogo, Monmouthshire. The intaglio printing (all direct from Eric Gill's copper plates - five fine copper engravings) is by Martyn Grimmer, masterprinter at Spike Island in Bristol. Preface by Frances and Nicolas McDowall. Slight discolouration to upper front panel of slipcase, otherwise near fine condition.
