Einband leicht berieben. - Als Dieter Ohly und ich am Neujahrtag 1964 gemeinsam nach Baugliedern des Aphaia-Tempels…suchten, stießen wir vor dem Eingang zu der am Nordhang gelegenen Höhle auf einen seltsam geformten Porosblock, in dem wir zu unserer Überraschung das seit Haller von Hallersteins und Cockerells Expedition verschollene altionische Kapitell erkannten, welches Fiechter auf Grund einer flüchtigen Skizze der Entdecker zusammen mit Fragmenten von Trommeln und Basis zu einer großen Sphinx-Säule nach der Art der delphischen Naxier-Säule ergänzt hat. Der Wächter konnte Auskunft über das glückliche Wieder-Auftauchen des seit mehr als einem Jahrhundert verschwundenen Fundstückes erteilen. Es wurde 1957/58 bei der Suche nach Steinen für den Bau eines Depots verschüttet im Gestrüpp des Nordhanges unterhalb der Höhle aufgefunden und an seinen jetzigen Platz geschafft.
