Leçons Cliniques sur les Maladies de la Peau is a first edition 1876 collection of clinical lectures by Dr. E. Guibout, a physician of the Hôpital Saint-Louis in Paris and Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur. As with other titles from this hospital, the book represents part of the Saint-Louis tradition of dermatological teaching - the hospital was the preeminent European center for the study and clinical instruction of skin disease throughout the 19th century, and Guibout's lectures, professées (delivered/taught) directly to students and clinicians at the hospital, would have offered readers a first-hand account of the bedside clinical teaching method for which Saint-Louis physicians were renowned, presenting case-based lessons on diagnosis and treatment as they were actually taught to students at the hospital rather than as an abstract textbook survey. Published in Paris by G. Masson, official bookseller (Libraire) to the Académie de Médecine, this volume sits within the broader body of French Saint-Louis school dermatological literature of the period alongside contemporaries such as Bazin, Hardy, and Baudot, and is of interest to collectors and historians of French dermatology, medical education, and the Hôpital Saint-Louis tradition specifically. Institut" stamped in gilt at the foot - confirming the binding itself was likely done for or by the Munich institute noted above. The binding is tight and sound with only light wear at the extremities.
