The front and rear panels of the boards are discoloured with some lighte edge rubbing and some corner bumping. Page edges browned with some spotting. Gift message in pen to the front free endpaper. There is a little brown spotting to the pages at the front and back of the book and a small tear to the bottom corner of one page. The pages are otherwise generally unmarked. The jacket has chipping with some loss at the top and bottom of the spine and the top and bottom left corners of the front panel. Chipping to the corners with some browning to the rear panel. The jacket illustration is by Guy de Selincourt who also created the frontispiece and the illustration on page 7. The other line illustrations in the book are by F. Stocks May. First printing.

The book is in very good condition with just a trace of shelf-wear to the extremities. The binding is tight. There is a little light foxing to the edges, otherwise the pages are clean and unmarked. The dust jacket is fair with quite heavy shelf-wear to the extremities, including a number of chips, creases and tears (up to .5") and moderate foxing.
