Ebd. - Hans Spitzy (1872 - 1956) studierte Medizin in Graz, wurde 1896 promoviert und war 1896-1906 Assistent Theodor Escherichs an der Grazer Universitäts-Kinderklinik. Nach Studienaufenthalten in Würzburg und Berlin habilitierte er sich 1905 für orthopädi…sche Chirurgie in Graz und leitete 1906-13 die von ihm gegründete Chirurgisch-Orthopädische Abteilung an der dortigen Universitäts-Kinderklinik. 1913/14 hatte er die Leitung der Orthopädischen Abteilung des Kaiser-Franz-Joseph-Ambulatoriums in Wien inne und eröffnete 1915 als Oberstabsarzt das von ihm eingerichtete k.k. Reservespital Nr. 11, ein orthopädisches Krankenhaus, das er nach Kriegsende als Zivilkrankenhaus weiterführte, 1923-42 als Direktor und Primararzt. 1918 wurde er zum tit. a.o. Prof. ernannt, 1933 in die Deutsche Akademie der Naturforscher Leopoldina aufgenommen. Er veröffentlichte u.a. Die Chirurgie und Orthopädie im Kindesalter (1910). (Quelle DBE).
