Textteil: 46 S., zahlreiche Textbilder, Abb.teil: 46 Tafeln und 5 achtfarbigen Offsetdrucken, In Hubers Werk lässt sich eine weite thematische und formale Entwicklung ablesen, deren Phasen zum Teil mit den Aufenthalten des Malers zusammenfallen. Die malerischen Anfänge stehen erst unter dem Eindruck Hodlers und des Jugendstils, dann erfolgt eine Annäherung an den deutschen Expressionismus und an den französischen Fauvismus. In der Zeit in Klosters 1918-1925 überwindet Huber den Expressionismus und setzt sich mit der Malerei Meyer-Amdens und Renoirs auseinander, an dessen Farbigkeit er sich stark anlehnt, ohne dabei aber je impressionistisch zu malen. In Deutschland, wo er als Überwinder Hodlers gilt, ist Huber damals sehr erfolgreich. Schon 1924 erscheint in Potsdam die vorliegende Monographie des Malers. In der Zeit am Zürichsee entstehen vor allem Seelandschaften mit Badenden, in denen er sich mit der Komposition Cézannes und wieder mit der Farbqualität Renoirs auseinandersetzt. Seit der Übersiedlung nach Sihlbrugg treten religiös-weltanschauliche Figurenkompositionen auf. Der Einfluss Renoirs ist in dieser langen letzten Phase überwunden.
