Four numbers bound in three quarto issues (28cm); original thick pictorial card wrappers; No.1: [1]-72pp; Nos.2-3: [ii],[2],3-143,[1]; No.4: [ii],[1]-86 + [10]pp index, with text in English and in French. Contents complete, with all tipped-in, foldout, die-cut, and moveable elements present and accounted for, with Duchamp's die-cut chicken wire rear cover on No.2-3 intact. Issue No.1 shows some light wear, gentle sunning and a few scattered foxed spots to some preliminary and terminal leaves; Nos.2-4 show some of the usual creasing and tiny tears to the yapped edges, with two tiny punctures to spine on No.4; Very Good+ to Near Fine. Housed in a custom clamshell case.Complete run of this scarce, short-lived surrealist journal published in New York City between 1942-44. While VVV only lasted for four issues, it was nevertheless a major vehicle for revitalizing surrealism, showcasing the work of numerous displaced artists who fled Europe in order to escape the war.
