One of the most important photo books of the 20th century (as featured in: Parr/Badger, The Photobook: A History, Vol. 3). Originally devised as a present for Fritz Todt's 50th Birthday in 1941 but published after his death in 1943. Pagination: including the half title, title dedication and list of plates, a total of 12 text pages, followed by 24 tipped in plates. Plates numbered and text under each of the tipped in plates. Provenance: no inscriptions or bookplates. Approximately 18 inches tall (45 x 33 cm). Condition Report Externally Spine poor condition original paper cover is absent revealing the webbing underneath. Joints poor condition structurally sound retaining the spine joint and hinge, but lacking the paper cover. Corners good condition bumped and worn. Boards good condition publisher s paper covered boards, marked and worn. Page edges good condition tanned and darkened. See above and photos. Internally Hinges good condition sound. Paste downs good condition yellow. End papers good condition yellow end papers. Title good condition minor tanning and foxing. Pages good condition pages are tanned with minor foxing.
