Anton Hasenhut war einer der beliebtesten Wiener Volksschauspieler, ein Bühnenschauspieler von zwingender komischer Kraft, Franz Grillparzer äußerte, er habe "über keinen Komiker mehr so herzlich lachen können wie über Hasenhut". Mit dem Erstdruck von Grillparzers Gedicht "Hasenhut" auf Seite 310. - Der sehr interessante Kupferstich zeigt, wie Hasenhut das k.k. priv.
