Five instrumental piece for piano with dance instructions printed in French and English. Allen Dodworth was a well-known New York dance instructor. A 1928 retrospective in *The New Yorker* gives us some insight into Mr. Dodworth and his Academy, "New York matrons-if there are any left-who went to the historic dancing school conducted by Mr. Allen Dodworth, still uncross their feet, and fold their hands carefully in their laps, whenever his name is mentioned. In an unladylike position, it would be unthinkable even to remember Mr. Dodworth . Now we shudder at the thought of what that stately gentleman would have thought of the swing and abandon, the snapping of fingers and flinging of heels-when our children do the Charleston.".
