Die neue CD des Phonogrammarchivs der OAW erweckt die Musik dieser Komposition als virtuelle Rekonstruktion wieder zum Leben. Ohne den mit der Rekonstruktion des Nachfolgestucks KV 608 gemachten Erfahrungen ware es nicht moglich gewesen Mozarts Adagio und Allegro KV 594 klanglich wiederherzustellen, da fur dieses Werk zu seiner Auffuhrungspraxis so gut wie keine zeitgenossichen Nachrichten vorliegen. So werden hier nun vier mogliche Varianten einer klingenden Rekonstruktion von KV 594 vorgestellt, die den ursprunglichen Intentionen des Bestellers und Mozarts wohl sehr nahe kommen durften. Das besondere ist, dass diese Musik wahrscheinlich nie eine historische Auffuhrung erlebt hat und nun erstmals im "authentischen Klang" zu horen ist, der wieder aus den entsprechend gewahlten Registern eines wirklichen Orgelinstruments bezogen wird. Ein ausfuhrliches Booklet beleuchtet die Aspekte der historischen Situation im Jahr 1791 und ihre Umsetzung in eine virtuelle Rekonstruktion der Musik. In Wien und in Prag etablierte sich anfang der 20er Jahre des 19.Jahrhunderts eine osterreichische Spielwerkmanufaktur, angfuhrt von den Bruderen Anton und Josef Olbrich in Wien und der Firma Rzebitscheik in Prag, die bis in die Mitte des Jahrhunderts eine wichtige und ernstzunehmende…Konkurrenz zur Schweizer Spieldosenindustrie darstellte. Die Prager und Wiener Instrumente wurden auch ins Ausland verkauft und konnten Preise auf nationalen und internationalen Ausstellungen erringen. Die zweite CD der Serie steht nunmehr ganz im zeichen der Oper. Die hier ausgewahlten Opernmelodien spannen einen Bogen von Rossinis Barbier (1816) bis zu Verdis Rigoletto (1851), und die Instrumente, auf denen sie erklingen stammen aus einem Zeitraum von etwa 50 Jahren. Die italienische Oper dominiert eindeutig, beginnend mit Werken Rossinis, gegen Mitte des Jahrhunderts ubernahmen die Werke Bellinis und Donzittis die Fuhrung, spater dann gefolgt von den Opern Verdis. Auch die grand opera hinterliess ihre Spuren und ist hier mit Melodien aus Meyerbeers Opern vertreten.\nAuch Richard Wagners Musik fand in das Repertoire der Prager und Wiener Spielwerke eingang. So wie bei der Tanzmusik wurden auch auf dem Gebiet der Oper national Musikstromungen von den Spielwerkherstellern berucksichtigt. Erkels Hunyadi Laszlo steht hier als Beispiel fur einige Melodien aus Opern, die wiederholt aus Spielwerken zu finden waren. Die Transkripitionen, die so eingerichtet sind, dass uber einer klaren Begleitung die Melodie gut erkennbar wird, ist naturlich fur dies Arte von Musik, bei der der Melodie uberhaupt die grosste Bedeutung zukommt, von besonderem Vorteil. Diese Vorzuge sind speziell in solchen Stucken, die reiche Koloraturpassagen und Kadenzen bringen, zu erkennnen. Die hier vorgestellten Tonaufnahmen wurden unter dem Pratext gemacht, eine Quelle fur weitere wissenschaftliche Forschung zu erschliessen indem sie Favoritstucke fruherer Zeiten im originalen Klang der historischen Musikautomaten bewahren und einen Einblick in eine authentische Auffuhrungspraxis ermoglichen. Die Kunstkammer des Kunsthistorischen Museums birgt funf Objekte (vier Tischautomaten und einen Kunstschrank), die mit Musikautomaten ausgestattet sind: Der Trompeterautomat (1582), das Schiff (1585), der Bacchuswagen (um 1602/06), der Walbaumschrank (um 1620/25) und der Minervawagen (…um 1625/30) zahlen zu den fruhesten Klangzeugnissen der europaischen Musikkultur. Im Zuge der jungsten Restaurierungsarbeiten war es moglich, die Musik dieser Automaten wiederherzustellen. Aus konservatorischen Grunden waren einer Instandsetzung des Trompeterautomaten, des Schiffes und des Bacchuswagens Grenzen gesetzt und die klingende Musik konnte nur mittels Rekonstruktionen wiederhergestellt werden. Die teilweise sogar gut erhaltene Notation der Musik auf den Informationstragern (Radern und Scheiben) und die noch funktionstuchtigen Pfeifen und Trommelmembrane der Automaten begunstigten die Realisation der ursprunglichen Musik unter Verwendung des historischen Tonmaterials. Der Minervawagen und das Orgelwerk im Walbaum-Schrank uberraschten durch einen guten und weitgehend vollstandigen Erhalt ihrer Musikwerke und ihres Antriebs. Diese beiden Automaten konnten ihre Musik wieder selbstandig wiedergeben. Die Automaten spielen zu einer bewegten Szenerie ein thematisch passendes Musikprogramm. Diese erstaunlich komplexe Musik steht im Zentrum des Zusammenspiels der Kunste. Den Tonaufnahmen ist eine Transkription aller Musikstucke beigefugt. During the 19th and in the beginning of the 20th century the musical boxes made by Swiss manufacturers (and there were also some active in nearby France) dominated the international market - but also in Prague and in Vienna musical boxes were made. While the Swiss products were sold worldwid…e, the Austrian musical boxes were made primarily for customers in the Habsburg Monarchy and in East-European countries. The manufacturers in Prague and Vienna followed an independent and different path in the construction and design of musical boxes as well as in the musical repertoire and its arrangement. The book will point out these special features of the Austrian musical boxes. Based on a survey of roughly 1300 musical boxes (the information was collected during a research project since 1980), it is possible to present here a typology and the development of the musical boxes made in Prague and Vienna, providing also sufficient photos of many details. Analyses of several music pieces accompanied by the related scores throw light on the musical repertoire and its typical arrangement. Historical facts and biographical data of the makers complement the picture of the production of musical boxes in Prague and Vienna. The topic is completed by a catalogue of the musical boxes giving detailed information on every single instrument.
