Edition originale en librairie de la thèse de doctorat de l'auteur. Henri Folet (1843-1907) était alors interne des hôpitaux de Paris. Il deviendra chirurgien des hôpitaux de Lille, professeur d'anatomie puis de pathologie chirurgicale à la Faculté de médecine de Lille, et enfin doyen. Cette monographie devint la plus complète sur le sujet. Folet recueillit 70 observations dans la littérature internationale, reproduites ou soigneusement résumées. Il remercie Denonvilliers, Verneuil, Le Fort, Legouest, Boeckel et Vanzetti pour les documents utiles communiqués et leurs bienveillants conseils . Il expose les résultats (pseudarthrose, ankylose, récidive, .), les accidents et complications, les procédés opératoires. Folet montre que le taux de mortalité est inférieur à celui de l'amputation de l'avant-bras et que le nombre de succès locaux obtenus est assez considérable . envoi autographe.
