Dass er dort eine Dobberaner Blasmusik komponiert habe, wird in dieser Studie eindrucksvoll als Mythos widerlegt. Die… Studie beschreibt die Entstehungs- und Rezeptionsgeschichte von Mendelssohns Ouvertüre op. 24. -- Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdys (1809-1847) Ouvertüre für Harmoniemusik op. 24 (1839) geht zurück auf ein Andante und Allegro für Bläser (überliefert als Nocturno). Dazu angeregt wurde der Komponist 1824 in Bad Doberan, wo er mit seinem Vater zur Kur weilte und nahezu täglich die großherzogliche "Harmonie" hörte. Bis heute glaubt man deshalb, Mendelssohn habe sein Bläserstück 1824 in Doberan komponiert; tatsächlich schrieb er es jedoch zwei Jahre später für das dortige Bläserensemble. Direkt nach der Fertigstellung im Juni 1826 nahm seine Schwester Fanny die Noten mit nach Doberan. Damit begann eine spannende Geschichte um dieses frühe Bläserwerk Mendelssohns. Eine zeitgleiche Veröffentlichung mit der Ouvertüre op. 24 scheiterte 1839 daran, dass der Komponist die Noten nicht mehr finden konnte.
