A speech by the Rt. Hon. William Windham, delivered in the House of Commons on 13th June 1809, discussing Lord Erskine's Bill for the "more effectual prevention of cruelty towards animals". This bill was accepted in the House of Lords, but had, at first, opposition in the House of Commons. Windham argues in this speech that this bill is incompatible with fox hunting and horse racing.
