Condition: Very good. First Edition. One albumen print photograph with thin black border, about 10" x 8", backed onto linen. In very good condition, with some creases, nicks, and very minor discoloration at the extremities, but generally preserved. The photograph is somewhat mysterious, depicting a group of fourteen young boys and girls, another nine who are a few years older, and two male adults. In front of the group are four briefcases. As best we can tell, these are labeled "Miner's First Aid Cabinet," and the logo appears to be that of the Mine Safety Appliances Company. Perhaps these were young miners and first aid nurses in training, or maybe it was a summer camp. Regardless, a nicely sized image which captures youth life in coal country during the height of the coal boom in early 20th century America.
