Little is known about Eugne Houx-Marc, including his dates. Aventures de Dame Trotte et de sa Chatte is a storybook containing fifteen chapters about the titular Dame Trotte and her daily life with her pets, a cat and small dog. Twelvemo. 48 pp. Hand-colored frontispiece; fifteen hand-colored plates. Original illustrated boards, neatly rebacked in paper. Binding extremities lightly rubbed and worn. Light foxing, plates slightly toned. Small presentation slip written in ink and dated 1854 pasted on verso of front flyleaf. A very good, clean copy of a rare item. First edition (?). OCLC records several copies in Europe under dates that range from 1850 to 1867; Opie lists a fourth edition with a date of 1858. It is one book in the Bibliothque du Premier Age series, which included fifteen other works that differed thematically: gardens, fables, history, etc. OCLC lists five copies, all in England and France.
