Johann Christoph Friedrich von Schmid (* 15. August 1768 in Dinkelsbühl; 3. September 1854 in Augsburg) war ein römisch-katholischer Priester und Schriftsteller, auch von Kirchenliedern, der als der erfolgreichste Jugendbuchautor seiner Zeit gilt. Zu seinen auch heute noch bekannten Werken gehört - neben anderen Kirchenliedern - das in aller Welt bekannte Weihnachtslied >Ihr Kinderlein, kommet<.
