HInges holding well - but look to have been re-glued in places. Page fore-edges tanning with age and some very pale foxing (light tan spots) . Internally 25 weekly issues of this magazine. Vignette illustration on title page. Endpapers and the first few pages lightly spotted and browning with age. Each magazine separately paginated. Many b/w advertisements of the era in each magazine. Profusely illustrated in black and white. INDEX. Contents cover all manner of nursing and medical articles including - Interpretation of Xrays; Nursing as a sign of culture; Florence Nightingale; For the Midwife; Nursing in the Holy Land; Silkworm gut; Surgery ancient and modern; Medical Emergency station in the Libyan Desert; Murder by poison. etc, etc. Articles are written by various practising nurses and medical and surgical authorities, etc. VERY THICK and HEAVY. Apart from the edge browning which is relatively uniform throughout the book is CLEAN BRIGHT and TIGHT. All in the original pictorial wrappers as issued, staples variously rusted but all intact, volume 1 no.1 is dilapidated with the covers detached and one leaf loose, the occasional corner creased, otherwise all in very good condition. *Picture Post was a photojournalistic magazine published in the United Kingdom from 1938 to 1957…. It is considered a pioneering example of photojournalism and was an immediate success, selling 1,700,000 copies a week after only two months. It has been called the UK's equivalent of the USA 'Life' magazine.
