Ich meinerseits gestatte mir, Sie ergebenst zu bitten, dem Büchlein einige freundliche Worte in den Ihnen zur Verfügung stehenden Zeitungen zu widmen [.]". - August Iffert studierte Gesang in Hannover und Berlin, trat anschließend kurze Zeit als Sänger und Schauspieler auf, wandte sich jedoch bald ganz der Gesangspädagogik zu. Von 1884 bis 1891 Gesangslehrer in Leipzig, wirkte er danach an den Konservatorien in Köln und Dresden, ehe er 1904 als Professor ans Wiener Konservatorium ging. "Seit 1909 lebte er als Privatlehrer in Dresden. Iffert bildete viele bekannte Sängerinnen und Sänger aus (u. a. Frieda Langendorff, Eva von der Osten, Erik Schmedes) und verfaßte eine Allgemeine Gesangschule (1895) sowie eine Sprechschule für Schauspieler und Redner (1910)" (DBE). - Auf Briefpapier mit gestemp.
