Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. 1st Edition. Slim volume. Binding tight; pages clean with a tiny tear cover tear and a few small markings. Dust jacket shows a couple of small chips to top edge and 1-1/4" chip to top of spine. Inscribed by Clemens on front endpaper: 'To my dear friend Jerry with the author's best wishes' and June 1934. Clemens was the third cousin twice removed of Mark Twain and met him only once before Twain's death but made a career out of the connection, founding the International Mark Twain Society around 1923 and writing a number of short books burnishing Twain's reputation by linking him with 20th-century authors and historical figures. 'Mark Twain and Mussolini' is an uncommon title, with chapters based on Cyril Clemens' interviews with Mussolini, Bernard Shaw, John Galsworthy, Andre Maurois, G.K. Chesterton, John Drinkwater, and Franklin D. Roosevelt (!). Genuinely scarce in DJ, particularly signed. 56 pages. Inscribed by Author(s).
