At the outset of the English Civil War (1642-1651), Bishop Morton of Durham presented Isaac Basire, a highly esteemed Protestant of lower French nobility, with an ecclesiastical benefice at Egglescliffe. The book follows Basire's journey from obscurity to his appointment as chaplain to King Charles I, detailing his service during the siege of Carlisle, his subsequent appointment as Archdeacon of Northumberland, and his pursuit of an academic career at Oxford. The author paints a picture of Basire's struggles and accomplishments in a time of great turmoil, exploring his substantial contributions to the Church of England's history and thought. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Horizontal Centre fold has split an inch either side, and similar to the vertical fold, and right in the centre where both folds meet, but NO LOSS - I haven't repaired as this should be done with expertise.
