Er besuchte in den Jahren von 1950 bis 1954 die Kunstgewerbeschule in Bern und absolvierte eine Ausbildung zum Lithographen. Nach der Ausbildung erhält er 1955 ein S…tipendium für einen einjährigen Aufenthalt in Paris. In Frankreich knüpft er Kontakte zu jungen amerikanischen Künstlern wie Sam Francis und anderen. 1957 hat Iseli seine erste Einzelausstellung in der "Galerie 33" in Bern. Im Jahr 1961 erwirbt Rolf Iseli ein Grundstück in Saint-Romain (Burgund) in Frankreich und lebt fortan abwechselnd dort und in Bern. In den Jahren 1962 bis 1976 unternimmt Iseli Studienreisen nach New York, Moskau und China. Grosse Ausstellungstätigkeit Weltweit.
