D'une instruction littéraire étendue, il publia quelques traductions, des essais poétiques, et donna à la Revue française une étude sur l'Espagne, qui fut remarquée. Très lié avec le fils aîné du duc d'Orléans, M. de Saint-Priest se rallia avec empressement à la monarchie de juillet, qui le nomma (1833) ministre plénipotentiaire au Brésil, d'où il passa, en la même qualité, à Lisbonne (1835), puis à Copenhague (1838).
