See images for condition. About the book >.>.> The year is 1967. In China, eighteen years after the founding of the People's Republic, the Cultural Revolution is at its peak. In Malaysia, seven years after the ending of the Emergency, some 400-500 communists live in the Thai-Malaysian border jungle waging a forgotten war against the security forces of both countries, and waiting for instructions. How these instructions arrive and how they affect the lives of the members of Geretak Batu, a small town in a Malaysian border state, is the theme of this novel. But it is not just another political thriller or spy story: Jack Newby uses the threat of civil disturbance and insurrection to show a nation reaching political maturity and its citizens of differing races and creeds finding their national identity. (LL).
