Add to basketOne-off commemorative volume made to celebrate the visit of the future Edward VIII to the Yorkshire town of Halifax and, in particular, the Ladyship Mills owned by Standeven and Co. Small folio bespoke volume bound in textured deep-red roan with gilt lettering to the front cover. On the first flyleaf, a presentation inscription: 'With the compliments of Standeven and Co Ld. J Standeven, Director Xmas 1926.' Frontispiece portrait of the young prince by F A Swaine with printed caption, and apparently signed on the image by the photographer in pencil, with tissue guard, in common with all of the images. Printed title page followed by a portrait page of three generations of stolid looking Standevens. 25 card leaves follow with around 50 photographs mounted, with captions, that record the Prince's arrival and departure, views of the crowds around the works and a long sequence of detailed images of the different aspects of the manufacturing process of the company's 'high class fancy worsteds, tropicals, dyed and mixture coatings ad overcoatings'. Laid in is a pamphlet recording the Prince's visit to Halifax with the ownership signature of 'Mrs Cox' who may have been the recipient of this presentation volume.
