Neben der immer bewegenden Frage, in welcher Weise das geistige Erbe eines so vielseitigen Arztes, Forschers und Den kers in das Gedankengut der Gegenwart aufgenommen oder nicht aufge nommen worden ist, laBt sich die Beteiligung derer, die ihn personlich kannten oder seine SchUler waren, vielleicht als das wichtigste Ereignis sehen. Durch vielfache Umstande ist das Werk Viktor von Weizsackers, des Heidelberger Klinikers und Arztes, der gemeinsam mit seinem Lehrer Ludolf Krehl und seinem Freund Richard Siebeck die 'Heidelberger Schule' begriindet hat, der heutigen Medizin weitgehend unzuganglich geblieben. Viktor von Weizsacker wird zwar als der Begriinder der deut schen Psychosomatik nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg angesehen und gewiir digt, aber die Rezeption seines Werkes ist weder im deutschsprachigen Raum noch in den europaischen und auBereuropaischen Landern so weit fortgeschritten, daB man von einer internationalen Anerkennung sprechen konnte. Seine Wirkungen in den USA waren zumeist indirekt, vornehm lich vermittelt durch die Bostoner Schule von Erich Lindemann; die Reflektionen der Kollegen aus Spanien und Finnland, aus Japan, Italien und Siidamerika zeigen zwar ebenfalls die Suche nach einer Neuorientie rung in der Medizin, sind aber vorerst Einzelstimmen geblieben. Dennoch scheint aus einem immer starker werdenden Bediirfnis zunehmend die Einsicht zu wachsen, daB die gegenwartige immense Entwicklungskrise der Medizin in komplementaren Zusammenhangen verstanden werden muB und einer grundlegenden anthropologischen Besinnung bedarf.
