Der Fotografie von Kristallen hingegen wurde bislang nur wenig Beachtung geschenkt, obwohl renommierte Fotografen der Neuen Sachlichkeit wie Albert Renger-Patzsch, Aenne Biermann, Paul Wolff, Fred Koch oder Paul Dobe nach der Welt der Pflanzen auch die Welt der Minerale und Kristalle entdeckten - und deren so noch nie betrachtete Schönheit enthüllten. Für diese Fotografen stellte die Kristallefotografie ein von der organischen Form der Pflanze ausgehendes Vordringen in das Reich der Anorganika dar.
