Commissioned by the Society for the Benefit of the Sons and Daughters of the Clergy in Scotland, the NSA updated survey offered a more comprehensive analysis of Scotland's parishes. Covering geography, economy, agriculture, population trends, and social conditions, the NSA remains a significant historical resource for understanding Scotland in the early 19th century. With etchings after Millais, Grossmith, Hedley (2), Scannell, Morgan, Thomas, Stocks, Gore, and Williams. Contents in lovely condition, firm, clean and fresh, with a small mark at pii/iii, and slight toning to a few of the tissue guards. Marbled endpapers, and all edges gilt. 28.5x22cms, in the original half binding of dark morocco with five raised bands with gilt decorations in the compartments and dark green boards titled in gilt. A very nice copy. Scarce. First and only edition, limited to 350 copies.
