An offprint from the Discovery Reports (Vol. XVIII) issued by the "Discovery Committee, Colonial Office, London on behalf of the Government of the Dependencies of the Falkland Islands". David Dilwyn John served on three voyages of the Discovery Investigations programme, two of them as Scientific Officer-in-Charge. He was awarded a Polar Medal in 1941 and went on to be director of the National Museum of Wales.
