Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. First Edition. First UK Edition. Publisher's dark pink cloth lettered in black to the spine. A VG++ bright and clean copy with no inscriptions. The VG dustwrapper has a long closed tear to the fold of the front flap (neatly repaired on the verso with a strip of filmoplast archival repair tape). The spine… shows evidence of the removal of a price reduction sticker. Golden age detective fiction title by John George Haslette Vahey a prolific writer who wrote under various pseudonyms, most famously perhaps 'Vernon Loder' and 'Henrietta Clandon'. Scarce title, particularly in the striking blue, black and grey dustwrapper by WAKE. "The hero combines the unusual professions of a famous concert-hall pianist and counter-espionage in the storm centres of Europe, a job for which his unquestioned entry into all European capitals and circles makes him exceptionally well fitted. His companion at arms is a young woman violinist, and from the time when the hero is unwittingly involved in a murder in Brussels down to the unexpected end there is not a slack moment in the story. Photographs/scans available upon request.
