Will you kindly give me an appointment? Faithfully yours, J. Keble Bell, Assistant Editor of the 'Sketch'". The letter is on the decorated letterhead of The Sketch Published By The Illustrated London News & Sketch Limited, 198 Strand, London, W. C. It is dated Oct. 11, 1900, and is also to Grant Richards: "For the last four months I have been writing a weekly article in the 'Sketch' under the heading of the 'Social Jester'. The other I received a letter from one of the directors of Messrs. Simpkin, Marshall Ltd. (Mr. A. E. Miles .) suggesting, quite voluntarily, that fifteen or twenty of these articles in a book should have a good sale." John Keble Bell sometimes wrote under the pseudonym of Keble Howard.
